March out of SM

The weather folklore, “In like a lion, out like a lamb,” is often spoken about the month of March in the northern hemisphere. In this area, March is the transition month from winter to spring. Sometimes the month starts out cold and wintery, then fades into a beautiful warm spring at the end of the month (hence, in like a lion, out like a lamb). Other times the opposite holds true, so the phrase switches.

This month, I would like to challenge those of you who are struggling with selective mutism and having difficulty using your voice on command in certain situations. Let’s march right through the anxiety and come out the other side, taming the lion of muteness into a gentle lamb of recovery.  

Each day in March of 2021, there will be a challenge. Mark these daily challenges off your calendar as you manage to complete them. Since we are all unique individuals at different levels of SM, you may go out of order.  Once you’ve accomplished the entire month, send me an email of your success. I’d love to hear your progress.
